Who is
CoverSource and Sharkey Marine LLC?
Sharkey Marine LLC was
formed in 2002 to provide high quality marine products at reduced
prices through the use of the Internet and technology. In June 2004,
Sharkey Marine LLC opened "Cover-Source.com" in order to
provide boaters an easy to use site that eases the difficulty in
purchasing a boat cover or top.
How do I know that Sharkey Marine LLC is
legitimate?
Sharkey Marine LLC has been operating a
retail web site since 2002. CoverSource.com was launched in the
Summer of 2004. Our first site - sharkeyltd.com (which is still
operating and very successful) is part of the Yahoo Merchant program. The
best way to see how well we serve our customers is to look at our Yahoo
feedback. Our rating is well above the average of Yahoo Merchants. In
fact, Sharkey Marine LLC. is rated a "top service"

Why are your prices so low? Are your

What is the difference between a "bimini top" and a "boat-top"?
Nothing, they are both names for a freestanding top for a boat.
What is the most important parameter for choosing a top for my boat?
The width is generally the only critical measurement for a top. Everything else is dependant on your preferences - whether you prefer longer coverage or shorter, higher headroom or lower. Keep in mind the width is the distance between the connection points where the top will be mounted (see next question).
What do you mean by "WIDTH at attachment"?
It refers to the width the top is designed to fit to. The measurement is the distance between the two attachment points rather than the width of the bimini at the top.
Do your tops come with the hardware to attach to my boat?
Yes. Every top comes complete with nylon deck mounts and stainless steel screws to attach the top to your boat's deck (note: stainless frame tops have stainless deck mounts rather than nylon). If you prefer to attach your top to the side of your boat or on a rail, additional hardware will be required. The tops are held in position by the included straps for the front and back. If you prefer rear support braces rather than straps, the braces must be purchased separately.
What is a "storage boot?"
A storage boot is a cover for a bimini top when it is closed (collapsed). The boot zips over the closed fabric top to keep the top together and keep it clean and protected.
How long will it take to receive my order?
We make every effort to ship as quickly as possible. We make the tops to your specification so the customization requires more time than pulling a box off the shelf. You should expect your order to ship within two weeks of ordering. Expect an additional 2-4 shipping days to deliver.
How difficult is it to assemble the top?
All the tubing is pre-drilled and slides together and the fittings are pre-adjusted for optimal shape and structure. Complete Instructions are included. The only tools needed are a Phillips head screwdriver, flat-head screwdriver and a drill (if your boat has never had a top before, you will need to drill holes in your deck to attach the mounts). Expect to spend an hour or two.

What is the
best cover?
There is no
"best" fabric available and every boater has different
needs. All fabrics have trade-offs - the key is finding the fabric
that has the most positive attributes for your needs. The most
common trade off is water resistance versus breathability. An
increase in water resistance results in lower breathability and vice
versa. Look at our comparison chart
and make your decision based on your needs.
What if I buy a cover and it doesn't fit?
Keep the cover clean and call us - we will arrange
for you to return the cover and perhaps try a different size.
If you are not 100% satisfied with anything
you purchase from Cover-Source.com you can return it for a full refund. We
even provide an online tool for the quickest and easiest returns possible.
